Be More, Do More And The 70 Days Challenge

“He was a man who had accepted the creed that no one had the right to stop him.”-Ayn RandSo I’ll be real upfront, this is a bit more of a rant than it is anything else.  I got to a point recently where I realized that I was sick of letting life happen to me.  Literally just sick of feeling like I have to accept the way I feel, look and perform.  My workouts have become a bit dull, I feel like I don’t have time to accomplish everything I want to in a given day, and quite honestly I just want to be more and do more.  Now, I’ve always been one to do pretty much whatever I want but what I have realized is that I don’t always know exactly how to get there.  So I needed a plan, usher in my new 70 day challenge.  I’m sure many of you have heard that it takes 21 days to build a habit and 21 days to break a habit.  Well recently I have heard that this actually has no merit at all.


A study out of a University in Australia found that it actually takes 66 days to realistically form a habit that your body craves and instinctively wants to continue doing.  So being the self-improvement enthusiast that I am I decided that I’m going to build some habits into my life that are going to help me achieve the life that I actually want to live and then I’m going to tack on an extra four days for good measure, it’s just who I am.  I make it a challenge because I know that when times get hard and they inevitably will, it will be my competitive nature that will keep me going strong…I don’t back down from a challenge!Health and business are the two areas in my life that I am really looking to break out in this year so it is in these areas that I have decided to challenge myself.  My real struggle with health is my diet.  I have not chosen to go to the gym every day or anything like that because I know myself and I simply can’t live without the gym so I’m really not slacking there.

The diet that I have chosen to use is the Paleo diet.  Some people have their doubts about it but the fact of the matter is that I’ve done it before and I know that it works.  I feel better, look better, perform better, sleep better and have more energy and cognitive function during the day.  Let’s be honest, if there were a pill that would accomplish those things people would be trying to mortgage their house to obtain it!  Also on the subject of diet I’ve decided to drink a gallon per day for the next 70 days.  The reason behind this is that I’m so active and I just never seem to stay ahead of the power curve when it comes to hydration.  Gallon of H2O/day = problem solved.When it comes to business my big problem is the fact that I never really have the time I feel like I need to put into my business during the day.  Because I am a bit of a side-preneur at the moment it’s hard to make my business which is coincidently my true passion into a real priority.  I’m sure many of you with a family and a full time job can relate, time is a rare commodity!

So now for the next 70 days come hell or high water I will be awake at 5am every single morning and the next three hours of my day will be dedicated to building my business.Now I understand fully that these are not necessarily based on scientific research but I can assure you that they are based on a real desire to improve my life and create my worth.  You may have things in your life that you know you need to change for the better also, I encourage you to challenge yourself in those areas also and for God’s sake let me know I’m not the only one out there on the long road to self-improvement and a better future; reach out and let me know how it’s going and if I can give guidance or motivate in anyway, I’d love to help!
